How Many Blogs Do You Watch?
So, one of the results of Blogging Idol is that I may spend a bit more time looking for blogs I may want to read. Will this become like a hobby, will it be like reading a newspaper (which I do every day), or will it be a social thing?
I wonder how many blogs there are in existence today? How do you decide what ones you wish to be involved with? I could see paying attendion to beach Boy blogs (I’m already on an email list for that), to food blogs (maybe the Food Channel?), and of course there are IT technical blogs (I get emails from ITToolBox but seldom look at their blogs). Is blogging going to be a professional development method for me or will it be a way to find communities for non-work interests. Or should I just get away from the computer and get outside for some exercise?
I was also thinking that we all have to decide whether to be the blog “prime” or whether to simply comment actively on other people’s bogs.
Does having a blog imply you have to add to it almost continuously for fear of losing your audience? Much like web sites that don’t change? What would I do if I get lots of comments and want to try to reply to all of them? After all, this isn’t billable work……..
And if I were to start a blog, where should it be located. Presumably more people would see it if it were here at ITworld Canada, but then it also sort of dictates the topics to some extent. Should I get a WordPress account of my own, and then have full editorial control?
So many decisions……..ooops, am I getting hooked on this? Perhaps I could even link my Facebook to my blog….
So, what do you all do? How many blog sites do you visit in a week? Do you have your own blog? If so, do you have more than one - dedicated to different topics? Do you consider blogging a hobby or a professional development thing?
Inquiring minds want to know !!
