Telus types ‘cool’ incorrectly, launches Koodo brand
Desparate to compete with the Beavis-and-beaver hilarity of Bell Mobility’s advertising campaign, Telus is shifting from its core competency — photographing cute animals — to creating a brand specifically aimed at young people.
According to a story in The Globe and Mail, Telus is hoping Koodo Mobile will attract the kind of cell phone users that pay big bucks for ringtones, text mesaging and music.
“The company is saying nothing about its plans, but a kiosk with the name Koodo Mobile is being set up in Toronto’s Eaton Centre, and a mall directory at the Pickering Town Centre in Ontario lists Koodo Mobile in its online directory even though the phone number at the outlet is not yet operational,” the story says.
Of course, some might say having a working phone number might be an important part of getting in touch with the youth market, but maybe the kids can just send Koodo staff an SMS.

wow , what a retarded post ….
so you bash the concept of more competition … the prices are great , they are new and the phones will improve ….
are you perhaps defending the uber poor service and packeges of bell or rogers ? I sure hope not , and to be quite honest with you i challenge your credibility ,
these cell phones companies screw us left and right its about time we start gettings some fresh competition ….
yes its a telus creation .. but in all honesty , telus offered the only UNLIMITED data during this holiday season … they offer better packeges then any of the competing companies and if they choose to put out an even more competative brand out there so be it …
im all for it … its about time we start getting better options ….
bells horrible , rogers is utter crap aside from bell …

is it possible that ‘dude’ works for telus/koodo?
yes it is.
sure the other providers suck but its likely that a telus offspring wont fall far from the tree. still, i agree this ‘article’ is not very helpful.

Truth About Koodo…
There are no service fees but like all companies you must by one of their phone to access their network.
None of their phone are free. But, you can get a Tab or and “I O U” they will take $150 off the price of the phone and add it to your account.
Now, you are responsible to payback that $150 dollars monthly, by adding 10% of your bill towards paying off the phone.
So, there is a monthly fee…hum, a service fee ?
Ok, so that is not so bad at least you know what you are paying for, right ?
Thankfully, after you are done paying off the phone the monthly fees stop…Nope
They will continue to take the 10% toward your next purchase of a phone.
Not too bad right at least you will always have a new phone…As long as you stay with them.
What happens if you leave ?
Well, your balance owing will be due, and if you have a positive balance it does not have a monetary value, in other words you do not get that money back.
Is it really Fat Free Mobility or just a creative way of charging a service fee ?

you dumbass, the 10% is invisible, you dont pay it. it just comes off of you bill, so if your bill is 30, 3$ of invisible money will go towards your phone. you wont pay 33$..

After five long years of using Fido and realizing that they were doing nothing but ripping me off, I have finally decided to call it quits and try out something new. I was sick of paying around $65 a month for Fido and then being bombarded with all these new balances I have never heard of before. “Oh, you forgot to pay last year’s bill. You owe $150.” and “We combined 2 month’s bills together so you don’t have to pay next month”. Bullsh*t! I tried Virgin Mobile and only used it for a day. It just did not seem like a good enough plan. Sure, $25 a month sounds great but what happens when you want to add long distance? The amount keeps jumping up by $10 and $10…sounds a lot like Fido. Not to mention that it took them literally over 8 hours to activate my cell phone and ALL three of the customer representatives I spoke to were extremely rude. I have switched to Koodo and am very satisfied with my plan. For only $30 a month I can talk to five people as much as I want nationwide. Sounds like a great plan to me. The phones are not the best but I am sure there will be better ones later on.
