Sales and customer-tracking software vendor Entellium was busted this week when it was found out to be cooking the books. The top execs had been inflating revenues by hundreds of thousands of dollars to lure in $50-million, which was then allegedly sunk back in the company.
And guess how the head honchos were caught? An HR rep was cleaning out the desk of the Head of Sales when she found one of the cooked books, which was turned over to the company controller, who then blew the whistle.
You’d think that if you made sales-tracking software, you’d have a better idea of how to falsify records. And, ideally, not to leave your binder of lies where employees can find it. In the wake of the scandal, 40 employees have been laid off when the C-level baddies were arrested.
